Principles and Settings for bypass valve

We occasionally see some relatively large valves in some pipes always installing bypass valves. Why is that? What are the main functions? In what situations do you need to install bypass valve? What is the size of the bypass valve of the corresponding equipment?

 

In fact, by setting the bypass valve in the pipeline, it can be divided into two main points: one is to protect (balance pressure), and the other is emergency standby.

  1.  A protective effect, also can say that is a kind of main valve protection, prevent difficult operation of the valve due to the large pressure difference on two sides of the valve, especially in some large diameter or high pressure pipeline. Before the high pressure pipe is opened, open the bypass valve to relieve pressure, to avoid the sudden surge of high pressure and impact on the pipe under the valve. If the pressure difference between the two ends of the valve is too big, the opening torque is too large, open the valve after the bypass pressure relief to avoid the torque damage valve.

  2. Emergency action, as the standby line to use, the biggest advantage is when the main valve malfunction, or need maintenance, the bypass valve can be opened, and shall not affect the normal production


    Whether the valve needs to install bypass valve, the specific requirements and Settings (for reference only) are: 2.5mpa, DN400 or above; 4.0MPa, DN250 or above; 6.4MPa, DN200 or above; 10MPa, DN150 or above. The valve of DN100~DN200, its bypass pipe and bypass valve are DN20; DN250~DN600 valve, its bypass pipe and bypass valve are DN25; The valve of DN600 or above, the bypass pipe and bypass valve are DN40.
