Stampede Oil Field In The Deep Waters Of The Gulf Of Mexico Has Started Production

China Marine Petroleum Corp. announced in early February that the Stampede oil field in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico has started production. The Stampede oil field is located in the Gulf of Mexico, about 185 kilometers south of Fourchon, Louisiana, with an average depth of about 1,066 meters and a depth of oil about 9,100 meters.

The production capacity is about, 80000 barrels of oil a day, 4000 cubic feet of gas and 100000 m barrels of injected water. In accordance with the current development plan, production facilities will be made by 6 subsea production Wells and four injection Wells, and back to connect to a tension leg platform (TLP). 3 production Wells have been completed, annual production will gradually increase in 2018.


Nexen Petroleum Offshore international U.S.A. Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cnooc, owns a 25% stake in the Stampede project, Hess Corporation, chevron's subsidiary Union Oil Company of California and Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC owns 25% of their respective rights and interests. Hess  is the operators.
